23/10/24 – Introducing HighLevel’s Blog Importer: A Comprehensive Guide to Importing Blog Posts from Any CMS

HighLevel proudly presents the BLOG IMPORTER, a straightforward 3-step tool that facilitates the importing of blog posts from any Content Management System (CMS) with ease. A single link allows mapping fields such as titles, categories, and authors, with the option to publish immediately or save as a draft.

Noteworthy Features:

– Simple 3-Step Process: Enter the blog URL as well as the URL of the most recent blog post to scan and preview the content. However, if the iframe is blocked, the blog post preview may not appear, but functionality will continue unaffected.

– Mapping Structure: From the preview, map various elements including the blog title, category/tag, featured images, published date, content, and the author.

– Take Time to Review and Publish: HighLevel believes in providing clarity and control over your content, ensuring that it gets published only when it’s ready and meets your satisfaction.

Before you get started:

It’s crucial to verify that the blog has a posts sitemap. For instance, for a blog located at blog.abc.com, confirm the presence of a sitemap at blog.abc.com/sitemap.xml.

How It Works:

Step 1: Setup Your Import

-Start at Sites > Blog

-Next, click on the blog name

-Proceed to New Post > Import Blog Post

-Here, enter the blog URL and the URL for the most recent blog post

-Finally, choose the source of your import

Once this setup is complete, “Scan in Progress” status can be viewed in the “Imported Content” section at any given point.

Step 2: Map Content

HighLevel allows users to select the blog title, published date, author name, content, and category/tag. Should the mapping be incorrect, CSS selectors can be manually selected for reference.

Step 3: Import Content

Post completion of the scraping process, which typically takes between 10 to 20 minutes for about 1,000 posts, there’s an option to either import each post individually or in bulk. Be aware that initially, all posts get imported as drafts.

Our Recommendation:

HighLevel strongly advocates previewing blog posts prior to publishing them live, as we understand the importance of delivering high-quality and error-free content to your audience. Together, let’s optimize the publishing process.
